Executive Coaching

Sainty Hird & Partners believes that professional success depends not only on skill and experience, but the ability to apply them optimally as a function of behaviour and personality. SHP Non-Executive Programme

Since its foundation in 1996, Sainty Hird & Partners has helped to recruit non-executive directors for private and public company boards. We have both a proven record and an exceptional understanding of what is required to join a board – and what it takes to succeed as a non-executive director across the spectrum of corporate governance.

Unlike other NED programmes, which tend to focus exclusively on practical advice about preparing for and finding NED roles, we also closely examine the individual. Corporate governance is not homogenous. We consider “best fit” by board and company type, as well exploring and building greater self-awareness. And, where appropriate, we consider and coach an adaptation of professional behaviour to ensure the best chance of success as a board member.

Competition for non-executive roles is intense. Rightly, boards seek fresh perspective and, when considering candidates, place greater emphasis on demonstrable efficacy as a non-executive, rather than relying on a successful executive record.

In this context, we also look at specific and practical steps to making a successful conversion to be being an effective non-executive; or, for current board members, to being a better non-executive across multiple boards.

Coupled with identification of behavioural strengths, such practical guidance maps a route to a successful, “best fit” non-executive career. While we cannot guarantee our programme will result in a swift non-executive appointment, the chances of success not only in finding a NED role, but being successful at it are increased exponentially.

Behavioural Change

Cognitive Behavioural Coaching is a technique used in coaching to help drive behaviour change. It has its roots in clinical settings and is a well-researched technique. The premise of CBC is that thoughts drive how we feel, which drives what we do. If we want a different outcome or result, then understanding the link between these factors is important.

There are different stages involved in applying a CBC approach which involves building self-awareness, challenging self-limiting beliefs and reframing negative thoughts and replacing them with more constructive, positive ones.

Team Dynamics

The Hogan Team report aggregates team members’ individual assessment scores to shed light on team dynamics.
